I’ve been thinking about how our travels are recorded (and displayed) on this site. The way we’ve done it for our first three years seems to work OK, but does feel a little at odds with our “no fixed address” life.
I have two main concerns with it:
- the whole concept of a “trip” implies start and end points, usually a home base of some sort; and
- as shown by our recent 107+ day jaunt, a single post quickly becomes *very* unwieldy.
As such, for 2026 we’re going to try something different, and hopefully better/more useful.
Instead of a post per “trip” we’ll put up a post per “place”, i.e. a location where we stay. As we know from experience we frequently double (and more) up on these visits, we’ll add a year and month to the post title, e.g. Granville—202601
As we get a few under our belt we’ll look at some summary pages showing the info in a few different ways.
