Really cool pictures

Neither of us would have any delusions about being photographers, but every so often we’re in the right place at the right time and “get lucky”. These arguably have little or no artistic merit, but we like them.

Here are a few of our favourites shots (and a couple at the end that we didn’t take, but really love anyway ๐Ÿ™‚ )

July 2026: trying something new, see what you think!!

Earliest first…

September 2011

Taken on the west coast of Eyre Peninsula from the top of a cliff using an old Olympus digital with 10x optical zoom, then cropped a bit

April 2019

Sydney’s North Head from the deck of the Pacific Explorer at the start of our first-ever cruise.

The following evening we were off the north coast of NSW, just a bit north of Byron Bay…

Bushfires on the northern NSW coast, from the deck of the Pacific Explorer.

August 2021

OK, I didn’t take this originally, but I did crop and “photoshop” it; so I’m claiming it as a derivative workโ€”Vera helping to feed Dodge; offering lots of encouragement.

December 2021

Full moon on a slightly misty night, from in front of the house at Wallacia.

January 2022

Driving home to Wallacia one evening and came around the corner to this. Some slight cropping to remove the car dashboard and here it is. (If my editing skills were a bit better I would take out the power lines too…)

October 2022

The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name

December 2023

We went to visit Reen’s family for Christmas and stayed at a caravan park on the river. Late one afternoon a storm rolled through…

We pulled over to the side of the road in Picola, Victoria to photograph their silo art. Reen grabbed this shot as she was heading back to the rig.

February & June 2024

One of our favourite places is Len and Sue’s place just out of Tea Gardens: the next couple of shots might help you see why we love it so much…

Friendly locals…
…gorgeous views…
…and a cosy fire to keep you warm.

September 2024

One never knows what one might see on the side of a mountain2…

This is the original of the photo used as the header picture for the “musings” section of this site, it’s just a little less dark than that one.
In case you were feeling sorry for how lonely he looked, it wasn’t long until his wife joined him in contemplation ๐Ÿ™‚

[…and then I cheated and added them both to the “nicer” sunset pic…]

Not ours, but still really great pics

(well the first one ought to be, John’s a pro; and I’d guess the others are also…)

Joel and Beck’s wedding on Bellbird Hill, lower Blue Mountains.
Rainbows over the Illawarra Sea Bridge (with no infringement to the copyright owner intended, merely respect for a great shot).
