Misty: 1989—2006

Misty came to live with us in 1989 (as best as we can work out) and was named because all of her colours seemed to blur together, giving her a misty appearance. We took her on from a work colleague who could no longer keep her.

She died in November 2006, basically of old age.

Shadow: 2006—2018

Shadow came to live with us as a baby rescued from “behind a dumpster” at a site Joel was working. She reminded us so much of our beloved Midnight that we named her “Shadow (of Midnight)”.

After much love, Shadow passed away in November 2018.

Midnight: 1989—2005

Midnight came to live with us in January 1989. She was found on the street when she was only about a month old.

She was wonderfully friendly almost as if she was always grateful for us giving her a home; and loved to cuddle us and especially to talk to us.

Sadly Midnight passed away on ANZAC Day (25 April) 2005.

South Granville

In May 1987 we bought our home at 50 Boronia St, South Granville. Both kids have grown up here and it has been a genuine blessing to us all.

With Joel and Nyssa now having left and with families of their own it is time for us to also look at moving on. So (at time of writing) we’re cleaning out and preparing to put our home on the market to allow us to move onto something completely different.
Update:
After moving out in November 2021, the house sold in May 2022.

Harris Park 2

In 1985 we moved to a unit over a doctor’s rooms in 81 Marion St, Harris Park.

We stayed there until early 1987.

Harris Park 1

We moved to our Weston St (3/55), Harris Park unit in 1982, staying until mid-1985.

Auburn

We moved into unit 4, 97 Dartbrook Rd, Auburn in late 1980 and stayed for about 18 months, moving out in 1982.

Normanhurst

We lived in a granny flat behind a family home (2/24 Himemoa Ave) in Normanhurst in 1979 and 1980.

Pussy: 1979—198x

Pussy came to live with us in 1979, the year we were married.

She was a wonderful friend through five different homes, passing away in 198x from feline leukaemia.

Techo bits…

This site runs on WordPress using one of their standard themes (somewhat customised).

Historically, this is about the third overall iteration—the first being on Joomla—with it’s third distinct address (although the changes didn’t necessarily align). Our original background was a scan of the leaves from the gum tree (see below) in the backyard of our house at Granville, a Parramatta red gum.

Original site background

As a link to our history, we’ve deliberately chosen shades/tones of the colours in that scan for the current site.

All the maps used are from OpenStreetMap, a fantastic initiative and worth your support.
