Burendong Dam

We camped at Lake Burrendong in 198x, visiting the nearby town of Mumbil every evening for dinner at the pub.

Myall Lakes

In 198x we had a family holiday at Bombah Point on the Myall Lakes—this started our love affair with that area 🙂

Hawker

In 197x we travelled to Hawker in the SA Flinders Ranges for a Centenary celebration of the Telfer family in that region.

Claremont Meadows

After some time with Joel and Beck at Wallacia, the owner of the property wanted to sell it; meaning they (and we) all needed to move. They graciously included us in their relocation plans, to 7 Doncaster Ave, Claremont Meadows.

Sadly, the economics of the Sydney rental market meant that they had to forgo the extra space of a property for a house in suburbia; with the horses relocating separately to Beck’s family’s property up north.

Wallacia

While we were preparing our home at South Granville for sale, we moved out to give the builders free run.

We were blessed by the generosity of Joel and Beck who invited us to share their home at 2485 Silverdale Rd, Wallacia.

Family tree

A while ago we started getting serious about recording some of our family heritage and making it visible to others of the family (and others in general!)

We discovered the “webtrees” software package and have it up and running, with some (at time of writing) 6,300 individuals listed. If you’re interested, you can view the publicly available info at https://tree.bassetts.au

WARNING: I’m really only going to make logins available to family members, sorry.

Who are we?

We are Dean and Doreen (Reen).

After childhoods in different places, we met while in High School and married four years later in Gilgandra in country NSW.

We’ve lived most of our married life in western Sydney and have recently sold our home of some 35 years, retired and are currently in transition (everything takes longer than you expect, especially during COVID!).

Feel free to explore the site—it’s a work in progress and probably will be until we die 🙂

Flame: 2019—

Flame came along not long after Sienaar, as someone though she needed company. As it turned out, she really preferred being an “only child” but Flame settled into the house anyhow.

While Flame liked all of us, she really **loved** Katie; so when Katie moved out to her own flat, Flame went along with her.

Sienaar: 2016—

Sienaar came to live with us a little while after Misty passed; Misty was technically Reen’s cat and Nyssa felt that her Mum needed company 🙂

She is purebred Siamese, as such her full name is “Princess Sienaar” (but we seldom stand on formality).

Oh, and in case you were wondering, Sienaar is an expansion of “CNR”—for Charlie, Nyssa, Reen—the three princesses in my life (at the time).

For her continuing story, see Travel Cats.

Angel: 2007—2021

Angel was given to Nyssa in 2006 when she moved out of home, but after various adventures came back to live with us.

In 200x she “adopted” Joel and so moved out with and lived with him.

After a long and loving life she passed away from age-related complications early 2021.
